Reflective reaction of Japanese to Pope Francis's visit to Japan

2020-02-01
It seems the visit of Pope Francis to Japan had a great impact on the Japanese people. In my workplace, even non-Catholic teachers and staff call him “Papa” with friendliness, and they get healed from his smile, get strength by his message, and have wanted to receive his blessings and graces.
Children too, when they saw Pope’s poster, they looked happy and said, " I have seen this white man on TV!".
The theme of this visit was “Protect All Life”, and I think, in Pope’s various talk and sermons, “Every person, each and every life is important,” “People can't live alone, so help each other and live together” were passed on as his main messages. Also, the statement for peace and the remark on the abolition of nuclear weapons were very strong.
I was very impressed to see his bright smile口を広げてにっこりした顔 when he met people in every place, no matter how tired he was. I felt he is a true shepherd, who shows the face of merciful and compassionate God.
