“I AM” Journey ～わたしの神の名前～

イタリアのローマで国際修練期（International Noviciate)を過ごしている修練女の姉妹からお便りが来ました。8日間の黙想にあずかった時の体験を詩にしたものです。英語ですが、この詩が生まれた背景を後ろに説明してあります。

“I AM” JOURNEY
(Ex. 3:14)
Who do I say that You are, my Lord? (Mk. 8:29)
What do I say when self doubts Faith?
Let my mind search for words,
navigate Your every Presence,
for gifted may I, not in tune,
my hand yearns to write Your praises.
Exemplary Being You are to my eyes—
embodiment of all things pleasing God. (Mk. 1:11)
From mother’s womb where I was woven,
to the present that I am,
to the future that I will be,
You have known me—
and led my way through. (Ps. 139)
Forgiving You are whenever I asked for mercy, (Is. 55:7)
persistent to find and save when lost. (Lk 19:10)
In my darkest sleep You bid me to rise, (Mk. 5:41)
even Fear trembles knowing You are by my side. (Is. 43:5)
A wise master You are to a curious mind,
taught me to follow the righteous path:
to love God with all my being,
and my neighbor as myself. (Lk. 10:27)
Flew to a strange land and I was lost,
lived in the house that was never home.
Sought refuge in Your name and there found,
the hidden treasure where my heart lies. (Mt 6:21)
The trail is set being written in my sleep,
at the crack of every dawn, new adventures await,
off I continue my pursuit towards You,
hoping come the day that I would reach—
the Prize I was Called to claim. (Phil. 3:14)
The voyage continues,
finding myself as I seek You.
I am the pilgrim treading Your path,
For You are the beginning, during, and end,
of this Journey—You, Yourself are!

わたしは7月にイタリアのローマ近郊のネミで黙想会にあずかりました。黙想会を振り返ってみると、「あなたはわたしのことを何者だと言うのか」（マルコ8：29）というイエスの問いの答えを見いだすよう導かれていたと感じます。わたしは毎日の黙想を通して、この聖書の箇所に深く入って行く決心をしました。そして、ついにわたしがこれまで出会ってきたイエスの顔、またわたしの人生の中でイエスが誰であったかを表す詩がうかんできました。
詩のタイトル“I AM”Journeyは、わたし自身の個人的な神の名です。黙想会の間に与えられた聖書のもうひとつの箇所は出エジプト記3章14節でした。神がご自身の名前「わたしはある」をモーセに現わす箇所です。ある宗教には99の神の名前があるということ、わたしはわたし自身に現わされている神のユニークな100番目の名前を見出すよう促されていると思いました。その名は“旅”でした。というのはこの道（奉献生活）に導いたのは神の呼びかけによります。神に伴われ、最終目的地は神に一致することです。神はわたしの召命のはじめであり、途上であり、終わりです。それで神はわたしにとって“旅 Journey”なのです。
